Cobell announces membership of Taste of the West
Devon-based fruit ingredients supplier Cobell has joined Taste of the West – a highly respected organisation which supports and promotes the South West’s renowned food and drink industry.
Cobell has, for a number of years, been supplying fruit ingredients to existing Taste of the West members, including the soft drink manufacturer Bottlegreen and the fruit liquer maker Bramley & Gage. Now it is proud to be an important link in Taste of the West’s regional food chain, which aims to unite farmers, producers, chefs, caterers, distributors, wholesalers and retailers.
Cobell’s Managing Partner Nick Sprague explains why this membership is so important to his business; “Taste of the West is an extremely proactive organisation which promotes its members across the South West region. Significantly it unites suppliers with manufactures and, manufactures with wholesalers and caterers with producers - tying together all the unique strands of the food supply chain process.”
Nick continues; “For us, it was vitally important to become members as we already supply a great deal of fruit ingredients to the region’s manufacturers and catering establishments. Taste of the West is a high quality branding that we’re delighted to be associated with.”
Speaking about his company’s long-term commitment to the South West region, Nick Sprague explains; “Our business may be international but our roots are firmly based in Devon, with our headquarters in Exeter. So we’re really delighted to become full members of Taste of the West, not least because we recognise them as the foremost organisation promoting the region’s food industry.”
Established in response to a growing demand for high quality fruit ingredients, Cobell has been operating out its Exeter HQ since 1999, where the facilities have recently expanded to include sales, storage, packaging and specifically its unique aseptic bag-in-box facility.
With ingredients sourced from around the globe, Cobell’s customers range from soft drink, patisserie, yoghurt and ice cream manufacturers to ready meals, pharmaceuticals, preserves and salad producers.
Since 1991, Taste of the West has been working to develop recognition of the South West’s exceptional food industry, championing local producers and manufacturers with wholesalers and caterers alike.
Having built a solid foundation and firm reputation for helping local food business to thrive, Chief Executive John Sheaves comments; “We are so pleased to accept Cobell Ltd as new members of Taste of the West which reflects the diversity and quality of produce now available via the Regional Food Group. The fact that Cobell already supplies a number of other Taste of the West producers with raw ingredients means that it is a natural extension for Taste of the West to include Cobell as a valued supplier. With new markets opening up all the time, I am sure that Cobell will reap the rewards of greater market exposure”
